PointsBet has forecast group revenue of approximately AU$113m (US$78.7m) for the first half of FY27, a decline of around 16% from AU$135m in the corresponding period.
In a 13 October update to the Australian Securities Exchange, it also projected a normalised EBITDA loss of AU$6m to AU$8m for the six months ended 30 September 2026.
The online wagering operator said the weaker group revenue primarily reflected its Australian business. Its proactive actions to meet compliance standards continued to affect its highest-value customers, with both turnover and revenue from that cohort showing sustained double-digit declines.
The announcement did not give a separate revenue figure for the Australian or Canadian operations.
PointsBet said it had deliberately pursued growth among mass-market sports customers. Active customer numbers and turnover in that segment improved consistently, while its underlying net win margin also strengthened against the prior corresponding period.
Actual returns, however, were reduced by unfavourable sporting results in August and September, particularly in Australian Football League matches. The company said this variance eroded the gains made through its mass-market strategy.
The update distinguishes the effect of customer-level compliance actions from short-term sports results. That distinction matters when assessing whether the revenue decline reflects a continuing change in betting activity or a margin movement tied to individual events.
PointsBet group revenue: H1 FY26 vs H1 FY27 forecast
AU$m. H1 FY27 is an approximate forecast. Source: PointsBet ASX update, 13 October 2026.
PointsBet has not provided a revised full-year outlook or quantified the expected contribution from Canada in this announcement.
For context, the company's FY26 reporting period comprised nine months following a change in financial year-end. It reported AU$186.6m in revenue, a normalised EBITDA loss of AU$0.8m and a statutory net loss after tax of AU$26.6m for that period.
Those historical figures are not directly comparable with the current six-month forecast. PointsBet has not supplied an H1 FY27 net income estimate.
Investors will receive the complete first-half accounts on 30 October, when the company is due to provide a fuller breakdown of operating performance and the effect of its Australian compliance programme.
PointsBet's latest comments follow its August warning about rising compliance costs under Australian wagering reform.
