The SCJ said online gambling is prohibited in Chile as a general rule, with exceptions limited to Lotería de Concepción, Polla Chilena de Beneficencia and Teletrak
Epicbet’s appeal was declared inadmissible by the Santiago Court of Appeals and is now before the Supreme Court, which will decide whether to admit it

Chile’s Superintendency of Casinos (SCJ) has defended the blocking of Latamwin and Epicbet websites before the Santiago Court of Appeals, arguing that the online betting platforms operate unlawfully.

In its filing, the SCJ said: “With complete impunity and repeatedly stretching the national legal framework by filing successive actions that only seek to avoid oversight by the competent authorities, the appellant continues to operate a business that is not expressly permitted by our legal order while this activity is not regulated by law, a situation this Court cannot allow.”

The regulator said Chilean law prohibits online gambling and betting as a general rule, except for entities expressly authorized by law such as Lotería de Concepción, Polla Chilena de Beneficencia and Teletrak.

The SCJ added that unlicensed platforms evade oversight by creating new domains and similar URLs. It said it had complied with the court’s orders and rejected direct blocking requests from licensed land-based casino operators.

Latamwin, operated by W&C NN, and Epicbet filed protection appeals against the SCJ and the Undersecretariat of Telecommunications (Subtel), alleging illegality in the procedure for blocking their web addresses. They argued the blocks violate their constitutional freedom to carry out economic activities.

The blocks follow a Supreme Court ruling ordering internet service providers to block dozens of unauthorized sites by DNS. Subtel said Official Circular No. 726/2026 “does not respond to a discretionary or autonomous decision” but is the technical execution of the compliance procedure set by the Court of Appeals.

Epicbet said Subtel issued four blocking circulars in under a month and removed a condition limiting the block to the twelve sites named in the ruling or their direct copies.

The Santiago Court of Appeals declared Epicbet’s appeal inadmissible. The case is now before the Supreme Court, which will decide whether to admit it.

Latamwin is owned by Chilean businessman Wilfred Adelsdorfer, while Epicbet is operated by Overcooked Limitada and registered in Nevis
