Cedar Crossing Casino in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has announced it will open on November 19. The operator's General Manager and EVP, Kim Pang, confirmed this.
Pang noted: “It’s a dream come true. We have opportunities, and we want to be the fabric of Cedar Rapids.“
He added that the construction crew is installing seating in the event area while dealer training is underway. Meanwhile, testing on the machines that have already arrived on the premises will begin next week.
The casino will feature 700 slot machines, 22 table games and a 1,500-seat entertainment venue. Additional plans include restaurants, an Arts and Culture Center and a STEM lab.
The project has been under consideration for more than a decade. Iowa rejected Cedar Rapids casino proposals in 2014 and 2017, while a third proposal had to wait until a two-year moratorium imposed by the state legislature in 2022 had expired.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved the $275m development in 2025. Subsequently, it authorized all of the casino's contracts, including a sports wagering license.
According to the Commission, Iowa's licensed casinos generated $131.37m in adjusted gross revenue during August 2026, representing a 13.12% decrease from the same month last year.
The comparison comes after a change in Iowa's treatment of promotional play. From July 2026, adjusted gross revenue no longer includes promotional play receipts, following a gradual phase-out that began in fiscal year 2022 under SF619.
Commission Administrator Tina Eick said: "As expected, casino revenue and state taxes continue to be lower than the prior year given the law change on promotional play." August was the second month reported under the revised treatment.
The state currently has 19 licensed casinos and 10 state-licensed entities offering online sports betting
