IAS President Ramiro Ibarra said 70% of Lotería del Chubut’s profits are allocated to social action under provincial law

Chubut’s Institute of Social Assistance (IAS), in Argentina, delivered work supplies to hospitals and health posts in the province’s cordillera region.

IAS President Ramiro Ibarra led the handover at the agency’s regional delegation in Esquel, one of the province’s main cities.

Esquel Mayor Matías Taccetta also attended the event, alongside Lorena Lewis, Associate Director of Rural Hospitals, who said the supplies would be distributed to several facilities, including the hospitals in Tecka and Esquel and the health post in the Atilio Viglione Rural Commune.

“We received several items that we had requested recently, and we are very happy,” Lewis said.

Ramiro Ibarra, IAS President, said: “Governor Ignacio Torres asks us to support the Health and Education areas, which are the management’s priorities.” He described both sectors as very relevant to society and said the IAS remains available and in direct contact with Health Secretariat authorities to “find out how we can help.”

Ibarra also thanked bettors for their ongoing support and linked the delivery to how profits from Lotería del Chubut are used.

He said: “We always say that the message ‘you play, we all win’ has to do with this, which is the law that sets that 70% of the profits generated by Lotería del Chubut go to social action.”

Lewis added: “We thank Lotería del Chubut, which is always supporting us.”

Ibarra and Taccetta also led an earlier handover of equipment to institutions in Esquel at the Melipal Cultural Center. At that event, Ibarra said the actions are possible thanks to resources generated by the activity of Lotería del Chubut and thanked regular players.

Meanwhile, the Casino de Esquel remains closed following the shutdown of operator Trewelyn in March 2026. As of October, the process to find a new concessionaire had yet to produce a publicly reported outcome.

The labor dispute also remains unresolved: a court has recently ordered Trewelyn to pay outstanding March wages, adjusted for inflation and interest, to 36 former employees.

Claims for full severance payments remain separate, while the provincial government has maintained monthly financial assistance for former workers.
