Resorts World New York City has opened the International Room, a 13,657-square-foot high-limit gaming area at its casino in Queens.
The opening took place alongside Queens native Nas as the property marked its 15th anniversary.
The room has 48 table games, including baccarat, roulette and blackjack, as well as three private gaming salons. The casino said the area also offers dedicated hosted service, food and beverage options, and private entertainment facilities, including karaoke.
The opening is part of a broader first-floor expansion that will add 57 table games and 147 slot machines. Once the expansion is complete, the property will have nearly 300 live table games and more than 4,000 slot machines.
Meghan Taylor, SVP of Government Affairs and Public Relations, said: "The International Room is a major milestone in the evolution of Resorts World New York City, representing another important step toward realizing our vision of a world-class integrated resort right here in Queens.
"Until today, players who wanted this level of service had to leave the city to find it. Now we can offer the personal, high-touch hospitality guests expect in other destinations, which raises the bar for what's possible in New York City. Every milestone brings us closer to delivering the full vision of for Resorts World, with more reasons for visitors to come, stay longer and return."
The launch comes less than seven months after Resorts World New York City began operating as a full casino, according to the company. The property originally opened in Southeast Queens in 2011.
In July, the company broke ground on Phase II of a planned $5.5bn integrated resort development. The project is expected to include a 7,000-seat arena, hotel accommodation with 2,000 rooms, bars and restaurants, and 11 acres of green space.
Robert DeSalvio, President of Development, Genting Americas East, said: "We are extremely proud of the speed with which we have built and opened this incredible space that offers a new and uplifted experience to our players.
Giving players and visitors what they want, as soon as possible, is priority number one for the company, and we look forward to many events like today's in the near future."
Resorts World NYC generated $126.7m in September, accounting for around 69% of New York State’s total casino revenue of $184.3m
