Created by famous casino magnate Benny Binion who was inspired by the early legends of the game, the first-ever World Series of Poker (WSOP) took place in 1970 at the Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas, Nevada. The longest running and most prestigious annual poker tournament in history, the $10,000 WSOP Main Event serves as the featured event of every WSOP, and remains the most important poker event to take place every year.
