The real from the deepfake: iGaming’s next big challenge
Ohad Straschnov, Soft2Bet VP of Compliance, explores AI-assisted verification checks and iGaming in the age of deepfakes.
The growing use of AI-generated documents, deepfake videos and face swaps in impersonation attempts is putting greater pressure on online identity checks. For online casinos, accepting false information at registration can have consequences well beyond onboarding when it later informs decisions about the customer and their funds.
Readily available AI tools have made convincing impersonation easier to produce and repeat. Biometric verification provider iProov reports that less-skilled attackers can run automated attacks at scale, with injection attacks on iOS devices up 741% in 2025, alongside live impersonation capable of deceiving human reviewers. Security teams face credible-looking documents, images and video that cannot be trusted on appearance alone.
