The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) and Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) have unveiled a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement.
This regulatory collaboration marks a first for both regulators and will see the pair exchange insights and knowledge based on the legal and cultural developments of their respective jurisdictions. Indeed, both the Irish and Nevada markets are at crucial junctures of development, with the GRAI being one of the more newly incepted regulatory bodies overseeing a full market in the industry.
The NGCB, on the other hand, represents perhaps one of the most established federal gambling regulators in the world. This juxtaposition will allow the pair to offer differing perspectives and experience to one another as part of this newly incepted agreement.
Commenting on this latest development was GRAI CEO Anne Marie Caulfield, who said: “The knowledge and expertise that the Nevada Gaming Control Board have in terms of gambling regulation are very valuable to us in the GRAI.
“We very much welcome the insight, guidance, and experience that the NGCB can provide to the GRAI as a newly established regulator, and I look forward to our continued partnership with the shared goal of consumer protection and public health and safety at the heart of operations.”
This sentiment was echoed by NGCB Chairman, Mike Dreitzer, who added: “We are pleased to sign an MOU with the GRAI and look forward to sharing best practices with them and advancing our collaboration.”
It has been a busy month for the GRAI, which began formally issuing remote betting licences in the Irish market in early July. More recently, last week saw the regulator also launch an underage gambling awareness campaign to address signs of gambling amongst young people.
In Nevada, one of the NGCB’s key mandates in recent months has been the ongoing battle against prediction market operator Polymarket, with a state judge having granted the regulator’s request for a preliminary injunction against the platform in early June.
The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland was formally established and became operational in March 2025
