Zimbabwe’s National Arts Council (NACZ) has partnered with the gambling regulator Lotteries and Gaming Board to promote responsible gambling through a social media challenge.

Zimbabwean skit makers are being invited to create short, engaging videos that highlight the importance of making informed choices and keeping gambling within safe limits.

Participants must produce a one- to two-minute skit about responsible gambling and post it on their Facebook page. To enter the competition, they must tag NACZ and the Lotteries and Gaming Board and use the hashtag #ResponsibleGambling2026.

The winner will receive US$1,000. The prize will go to the skit that attracts the highest number of views and engagement.

Entries must be submitted by 31 August. The initiative aims to reinforce the message that gambling should remain a form of entertainment.

At the same time, Zimbabwe’s Government and regulator are working to strengthen gambling regulation, combat illegal gambling and promote responsible gaming.

Local media have recently reported that Zimbabwe is advancing reforms aimed at reshaping the sector. The Government and the Lotteries and Gaming Board are moving to strengthen regulation, tackle illegal gambling, modernise oversight through digital systems and promote responsible gaming.

Lotteries and Gaming Board Chairperson Dr Eugenia Chidhakwa said 2025 marked a period of institutional consolidation, with the Board strengthening its governance systems in line with national legislation.

She added that the Government is progressing amendments to the Lotteries and Gaming Act to modernise the legal framework and improve regulatory efficiency.

Chidhakwa also highlighted plans to introduce a real-time Gaming Management System, which will improve revenue accountability and strengthen oversight of licensed operator.
