Argentina's Corrientes province will introduce a responsible gambling program in schools, after the provincial Ministry of Education and the Instituto de Lotería y Casinos agreed to work together on gambling and online betting prevention.
The initiative will target students, teachers and families through educational activities, digital resources and awareness campaigns.
Under the agreement, the Ministry of Education will develop the program's pedagogical content through its Subsecretaría de Contenidos Audiovisuales, while the lottery authority will contribute workshops, in-person activities, webinars, digital resources and communication campaigns.
The program will focus on preventing problematic gambling consumption and promoting critical and responsible use of digital environments among young people. Educational materials and proposals will be developed in different formats for use across the province's schools.
The lottery authority will also provide supplies, prizes and equipment for the activities, while both institutions will organize contests for students and educators to produce audiovisual content focused on gambling and betting prevention.
Education Minister Ana Miño and representatives of the Instituto de Lotería y Casinos signed the cooperation agreement, which frames the initiative around digital citizenship and digital wellbeing.
The program comes amid concerns over young people's access to online betting in Corrientes. The lottery authority has previously said it identified more than 600 illegal gambling sites operating in the province during the previous year, including platforms without identity verification controls for users.
