The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has appointed Gemma Fletcher as Executive Director following Andrew Gellatly's decision to step down from the position.
Fletcher takes over with immediate effect and will be supported by the regulator's existing senior leadership team as it seeks to maintain continuity following the change.
She has spent 10 years with the AGCC, most recently serving as Director of Operations since August 2022. Before that, Fletcher was Deputy Director of Licensing and Compliance for almost six years, giving her experience across the regulator's supervisory and operational functions.
Her background also includes several years within the gambling industry's financial sector. Before joining the AGCC, Fletcher spent nearly four years as Head of Finance at Genting Casinos UK. Earlier positions included Finance Manager at Godiva Group and Senior Accountant at Crombies Accountants.
The AGCC said Fletcher's regulatory experience and financial background would support the continued delivery of its strategic and regulatory objectives.
Gellatly leaves after serving as Executive Director and overseeing the Commission's work regulating Alderney's eGambling sector. The AGCC did not provide further details on the reason for his departure or his next position.
The leadership change comes as the Commission continues to oversee electronic gambling businesses under Alderney's regulatory framework.
Its objectives include ensuring regulated gambling is conducted honestly and fairly, maintaining good governance standards and preventing criminal influence over the funding, management and operation of gambling businesses.
The regulator is also responsible for ensuring its supervision protects young and vulnerable people while maintaining Alderney's position as an international eGambling jurisdiction.
The AGCC said its regulatory and governance priorities would remain unchanged under Fletcher's leadership.
Fletcher has served as the AGCC's Director of Operations since 2022
