Melco Resorts (Philippines) Foundation Corporation has donated PHP24.8m worth of medical and non-medical equipment to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Cavite Chapter.
The equipment will be used at the organization's new blood center at the Vermosa Complex in Imus, Cavite.
The donation was turned over and inspected at City of Dreams Manila in Parañaque City, following approval from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Board of Directors.
Under PAGCOR regulations, integrated resort licensees are required to allocate part of their foundation funds to socio-civic initiatives, including programs covering healthcare, education and other public services.
The medical equipment provided through the donation includes blood bank and reagent refrigerators, platelet shakers, serology machines, blood mixers and an automatic blood grouping analyzer.
Other items include ultra-low-temperature freezers, electric tube sealers, serological centrifuges, microscopes, tube strippers and autoclaves.
Non-medical equipment supplied for the facility includes a generator set, blood donation couches and beds, computers and air-conditioning units.
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco attended the turnover alongside representatives from Melco Foundation and the Philippine Red Cross.
Melco Foundation President and Chairman Clarence Chung said the contribution was intended to support the PRC's provision of healthcare services to communities in Cavite and surrounding areas.
The donation represents another socio-civic initiative funded through the foundation of a Philippine integrated resort operator, with PAGCOR overseeing the allocation under its regulatory requirements.
The donation includes both blood-processing equipment and supporting infrastructure
