Matchbook has announced the completed acquisition of Betdaq. To ensure a smooth transition between platforms, Betdaq will remain operational until 21 October 2026, with accounts available for withdrawals until 4 November 2026.

The deal, which has not been publicly disclosed, combines Betdaq’s historic legacy with Matchbook’s pricing and technology expertise.

Ronan McDonagh, CEO of Matchbook, said: “Betdaq and Matchbook grew up proving the same idea - that bettors get a better deal when prices are made by a market rather than a margin. A quarter of a century on, that idea is winning: exchanges and prediction markets are bringing peer-to-peer pricing to new audiences around the world, and this acquisition deepens the pool at the heart of everything we build.”

Although Betdaq was one of the earliest betting exchanges, being founded in 2000, Matchbook’s peer-to-peer model has seen renewed momentum across the world. In the US specifically, exchange betting and prediction markets have been bringing market-made prices to new audiences.

Matchbook has been expanding into prediction markets since 2025. The betting exchange provides infrastructure for easyBet predictions in the UK and, in July, announced a partnership with ADI Predictstreet, the official prediction market of FIFA World Cup 2026.

As the transition is scheduled to be completed by November, Matchbook is focusing on ensuring players’ funds are returned.

“Our first priority through this transition is Betdaq’s customers: their funds are safe, their options are clear, and in one combined pool they should find better prices and deeper liquidity than either exchange could offer alone.

Everything we are doing - this deal included - is about making the exchange first choice,” McDonagh concluded.
