Jamul Casino Resort has named Chris Kelley as the property’s first-ever CEO, where he will oversee operations, strategic growth and work with the Jamul Indian Village Development Corporation to forge economic and Tribal interests.
Jamul Indian Village Development Corporation Chairwoman Erica Pinto addressed the new appointment, having said, “What impressed us is that throughout his career, Chris built a reputation as a strategic thinker and results-oriented leader.
“We’re grateful his homecoming to San Diego is to use his considerable skills and experience to help continue the legacy of Jamul Casino Resort’s success.”
Prior to joining Jamul Casino Resort, Kelley held the President title with Hard Rock Casino Tejon and led the property’s grand opening in November 2025, having also served as President & COO of MGM Resorts International’s Northeast Group.
Kelley assumes the leadership position with Jamul Casino Resort following the resignation of former President & GM Mary Cheeks in August, who led the California gaming property for over eight years.
“Leading Jamul Casino Resort through this important period of growth and transformation has been an extraordinary privilege,” Cheeks said at the time of announcement.
“I am proud of what our team has accomplished together, particularly the evolution of the property and the successful opening of our hotel. I leave this chapter with tremendous appreciation for Team Jamul who contributed to that success.”
Following his departure from Hard Rock Casino Tejon, Kelley was replaced by Mike Bean as President while the Tribal casino moved toward the next stage of its development.
The new Jamul Casino Resort CEO first began his gaming career in the San Diego area, having served as CFO & GM of Viejas Casino & Resort among several leadership positions.
Jamul Casino Resort appointed Marcus Lucero as its new VP of Casino Operations in June, where he began to lead the property’s slot, table game, poker and player development operations
