Among generic terms, “casino online” draws ten searches for every one for “apuestas deportivas” and has outpaced “tragamonedas” since May 2022
Interest in casino bonuses and promotions has multiplied sixfold since 2023, according to the report

Online betting searches in the Buenos Aires Province have risen to 12 times their 2022 level, according to a report analysing Google Trends data.

Comparing January to September of each year, interest was marginal until 2021 and in 2026 stands 66% above 2023 despite a dip in 2025.

The monthly peak came in June 2026, during the World Cup, and searches for “casino online” have multiplied more than twentyfold since 2019.

The study tracked 27 brands, seven authorized by the IPLyC and 20 without a license, and its index measures relative search interest, not users, bettors or money wagered.

Searches for betting houses run 3.8% above their usual level between the 5th and 10th of each month, after most registered salaries are paid, though in 2024 and 2026 the margin of error includes zero.

During the Copa América, the Club World Cup and the 2026 World Cup, they ran 20% to 33% above the prior six weeks, although the 2024 Copa América overlapped with the Euros.

Interest is 26% higher in the second ring of Greater Buenos Aires, home to 6.6 million people, than in the first, with Ezeiza, Florencio Varela, José C. Paz and Malvinas Argentinas among the highest values and San Isidro and Vicente López among the lowest.

Seven of every ten searches for the five leading authorized brands went to the sponsors of River Plate and Boca Juniors, Betano and Betsson.

In September, the IPLyC set a 2% contribution on prizes from online instant-resolution games such as virtual slots, excluding sports betting, in force since September 8.

Searches for “casino online” in the province fell 52% over the following five weeks compared with the previous five, which included an August peak, but rose 2% against the five weeks before that peak.

In Santa Fe, where the contribution does not apply, they fell 40% and 27%.

The study calls the result preliminary, says five weeks cannot confirm or rule out an effect and will keep tracking it.
