Christian Genetski

Christian Genetski currently serves as President of FanDuel – owned and operated by Flutter Entertainment – having taken over leadership following former CEO Amy Howe’s exit in May 2026.  

Who is Christian Genetski? 

Prior to beginning his sports betting career, Genetski first served as an Associate with King & Spalding from June 1996 to January 1999 before progressing to the US Department of Justice, where he worked as a Trial Attorney in the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section for nearly two years.  

Genetski’s first foray into the industry came with FanDuel much later, when he joined the operator as Chief Legal Officer in February 2015, eventually taking over the top leadership position following Amy Howe departure from the CEO role in May 2026.  

Education  

Genetski attended Birmingham-Southern College from 1988-1992 – a private liberal arts college in Alabama which closed its doors in 2024 – where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in History and English. The future FanDuel executive also earned his Juris Doctor, or professional graduate law degree, from Vanderbilt University where he studied between 1992-1995.  

Career journey 

Following his respective tenures with King & Spalding and the US Department of Justice, Genetski moved to Kirkland & Ellis where he served as a Partner of the law firm from 2001-2003. Also in 2001, Genetski began an extended teaching stint with the Georgetown University Law Center as an Adjunct Professor, spending nine years with the University until departing in 2010.  

In 2003, Genetski transitioned from Kirkland & Ellis to Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP, where he was Partner and Vice-Chair of the firm’s Internet Practice, perhaps offering the first glimpse into the realm of online that eventually led him to gaming.  

Staying on his legal career path, however, Genetski founded his own law firm – Zwillinger Genetski – in March 2010, but the business would eventually close by June 2011. Not to be discouraged, Genetski joined the Entertainment Software Association as SVP and General Counsel, serving with the organization from July 2011 to January 2015.  

Finally making his way into sports betting, Genetski was appointed as FanDuel’s Chief Legal Officer in February 2015 and served in the role until July 2022, while also assuming the CCO position in mid-2017. Genetski was promoted to FanDuel President in 2022 and currently oversees all aspects of the operator’s business.  

Key achievements 

As FanDuel’s Chief Legal Officer, Genetski navigated a range of regulatory changes which saw the legalization of daily fantasy sports across 20 states. Indeed, the legal shifts through the 2010s also paved the way for FanDuel's entry into sports betting and iGaming following the overturning of PASPA in 2018.  

Following PASPA’s repeal, he led industry efforts to work with legislators and regulators across the US to open state sports betting markets and build a legal framework within which operators could expand. His leadership also secured FanDuel's market access footprint, including partnerships with professional sports franchises and collaborations with the NBA, NFL, NHL and PGA Tour. 

During his tenure as President, FanDuel became the number one operator in market share for sports betting and iGaming in the US, a position in which it currently maintains. As President, Genetski leads the operator and oversees all aspects of its business, operations and strategic direction. 

Leadership and strategy  

Genetski’s leadership strategy with FanDuel combines regulatory experience, strategic partnerships, and market expansion to help position the operator for sustained growth across sports betting, iGaming and – more recently – prediction markets.  

His approach also integrates technology and regulation, ensuring FanDuel’s digital platforms are both innovative and compliant to mitigate potential legal risks and set operational standards. Genetski has also had little issue phasing out existing FanDuel businesses, including the operator’s peer-to-peer fantasy product and FanDuel TV enterprise.
