The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has reported the state’s total gaming activity for January 2026, as the overall revenue stemming from casinos, iGaming and sports wagering increased 5.9% to $586.4m.
Despite both casino win and iGaming revenue increasing year-over-year, the DGE also reported a sports wagering revenue loss of 6.5% during January 2026 for a total of $114.2m.
Sports wagering in New Jersey off to rocky start for 2026
While sports wagering revenue in New Jersey fell from the prior year period, the state’s total handle for January 2026 also decreased by 10.2% to just over $1bn. Basketball and football accounted for the majority of sports wagering handle in New Jersey during January 2026, totaling $219.8m and $280.7m, respectively.
Both FanDuel and DraftKings witnessed decreases in online sports wagering revenue, as the Flutter Entertainment-owned operator reported a 14.1% fall to $45.6m, while DraftKings generated an equal 14.1% decrease to $30.6m.
BetFanatics and BetMGM were able to produce sports wagering revenue increases for January 2026, reporting growth of 61.1% and 3%, respectively, for totals of $10.9m and $7.6m.
Bally’s was able to generate a retail sports wagering revenue of $14,854 for January 2026 after reporting a $108,021 loss during the prior year period, while Ocean Casino generated the highest retail sports wagering revenue of any property with $393,654.
iGaming continues to thrive in the Garden State
New Jersey’s iGaming revenue for January 2026 climbed 16.8% to nearly $258.9m during January 2026, led by FanDuel which produced $58.9m of iGaming revenue in the Garden State for an increase of 18.5%.
DraftKings accounted for $48.6m of iGaming revenue and grew 10.3% year-over-year, while BetMGM managed to increase New Jersey iGaming revenue by 17.3% during January 2026 for a total of $33.8m.
While Borgata reported the fourth-highest iGaming revenue of any New Jersey operator for January 2026, the $21m figure equates to a decrease of 4.3%, and is closely followed by Caesars Palace which generated $18.3m of iGaming revenue and grew 16.7%.
Other authorized games in New Jersey accounted for $256.3m of the state’s total iGaming revenue for January 2026 and increased 17.1%, but peer-to-peer activity produced a decrease in revenue of 2.2% to $2.6m.
Third-party operators such as FanDuel and DraftKings reported a 67.6% market share for New Jersey iGaming activity during January 2026, while joint venture and affiliate brands combined to account for 30.1% of market share.
Casino brands, including Bally Bet and Ocean Casino, produced the remaining 2.3% of market share during the monthly period.
How did New Jersey casino operators fare during January?
Total casino win in New Jersey increased 1.6% to $213.3m, as revenue generated from slot machines grew 3.5% to $150.6m, while table game revenue decreased 2.9% for a total of $62.7m.
Despite recording the highest casino win of any land-based operator in New Jersey, Borgata Atlantic City’s revenue for January 2026 fell 6.1% to $56.7m. Hard Rock and Ocean Casino reported January 2026 casino wins of $46m and $35.5m, respectively, equating to increases of 20.9% and 0.8%.
Golden Nugget Atlantic City also witnessed a decrease in casino win year-over-year, falling 3.9% to $9.8m. Harrah’s and Tropicana were the only other properties to report decreases in casino win for January 2026, as Harrah’s fell 2.7% to $16.6m, and Tropicana reported a loss of 13.8% to $13m.
Caesars managed to increase casino win by 7.9% to $14.7m for January 2026, while Bally’s and Resorts Atlantic City grew revenue by 3.7% and 2.1%, respectively, for monthly totals of just over $10m and close to $11m for Resorts.
