Manchester United have reportedly agreed a multi-year training kit sponsorship deal with Betway, in what is being described as the most lucrative agreement of its kind in football.
According to reports from the UK, the deal is worth approximately £20m per season and will see Betway branding appear across Manchester United’s training apparel from the start of next season.
The agreement arrives ahead of new Premier League rules prohibiting betting operators from appearing as principal shirt sponsors. While front-of-shirt sponsorships will disappear from the league next season, betting brands will still be permitted to advertise through sleeve partnerships and pitch-side LED boards.
Manchester United’s matchday shirts will continue to feature technology company Snapdragon under an agreement running until 2029.
The partnership represents another major football sponsorship for Betway, which maintains a significant presence across European sport. If confirmed, it would also demonstrate how operators are adapting their commercial strategies as restrictions on traditional shirt sponsorships take effect.
The sponsorship news follows a positive financial update from Manchester United, which recently reported an operating profit of £37.7m for the nine months ending 31 March.
The additional commercial revenue generated through sponsorship agreements such as the reported Betway deal is expected to strengthen the club’s financial position heading into the summer transfer window.
Recently, the Gambling Commission has extended the deadline for operators to introduce new deposit limit requirements from 30 June to 30 September 2026.
On the pitch, Manchester United also secured a return to UEFA Champions League football after finishing third in the Premier League.
The ASA recently ruled against Betway over social media advertising featuring former footballer Thierry Henry
