Former professional footballer Andrés Guardado has been appointed as a brand ambassador for Betway.

Known as ‘El Principito,’ Guardado is among Mexico’s most-capped players with more than 180 international appearances and is one of a select group of players to have featured in five FIFA World Cups.

Betway said it is delighted to welcome Guardado, describing him as one of Mexico’s most celebrated football figures. The operator added that the partnership will strengthen its connection with Mexican fans and the wider Latin American audience.

Meanwhile, Premier League club Manchester United is close to agreeing a deal with Betway that would see the operator sponsor the club’s training kit from the 2026/27 season.

Talks are understood to be at an advanced stage, with an agreement expected to run for several seasons and see Betway featured on training apparel.

Manchester United have been without a training kit sponsor this season after their three-year deal with blockchain firm Tezos expired last summer.

The operator has been active in securing partnership deals. Last month in the UK, Betway entered a new partnership with The Jockey Club under which it sponsors 16 race day events across the 2026 calendar, including meetings at Newmarket, Haydock Park and Market Rasen.

In March, Betway was announced as the new and first-ever Official Betting Operator of Formula 1 as part of a partnership set to span multiple seasons. This deal broke new ground within betting, seeking to provide players with new and different ways to engage with the sport.
