Veikkaus will introduce the latest version of Neccton’s responsible gambling platform across both its digital and retail operations

Veikkaus will roll out the latest version of OpenBet’s Neccton responsible gambling platform across its digital and retail operations.

The move comes in anticipation of market liberalisation and a newly approved Gambling Act. The legislation, once it takes effect, will place greater responsibility on operators to address risky gambling behaviour during its early stages.

The Neccton platform enables timelier identification of potentially risky gambling behaviour, automated alerts and tailored player interventions. It is designed to support rather than replace human decision-making, summarising behavioural data, risk markers and historical context in plain language.

Veikkaus Vice President for Sustainability Susanna Saikkonen stated: “Veikkaus’ individual gambling safety net model is based on identifying risky gambling as early as possible and offering players both support and concrete limitations.

“The Neccton platform provides us with an ISO-certified, extensively security-tested and scientifically validated tool that strengthens our ability to identify risk and support our customers in gambling responsibly.”

Managing Director of Neccton at OpenBet, Dr Michael Auer added: "In today's regulatory environment, operators must demonstrate how they actively prevent gambling-related harm.

"The latest version of the Neccton platform enables real-time, data-driven intervention and measurable duty of care. We are proud to expand our partnership with Veikkaus to further strengthen its responsible gambling framework."

Veikkaus claims it is rapidly transforming into an “AI-native” company by embedding artificial intelligence across the entire organisation.

The company says it built its own internal AI platform in just two months to provide secure, company-wide access to AI tools. It reports that adoption has been very high, with around 90% of employees using the system across different roles, not only in technical teams.

Good to know

The Neccton deployment builds on a long-term partnership between Veikkaus and OpenBet, which has powered Veikkaus’ sportsbook platform since May 2025
