The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has reported the total casino activity of Detroit’s three commercial gaming establishments for June 2026, which managed to generate $102.7m of revenue and increase 1.6%. 

Of the revenue reported for June 2026, slot machines and table games accounted for $101.8m, representing an increase of 1.5%. Retail sports betting produced just $837,681 of qualified adjusted gross receipts, but still rose 25.6% year-over-year. 

MGM Grand Detroit led all retail properties in the city with $47.6m of slot machine and table game revenue but witnessed a fall of 1.7%. MotorCity Casino and Hollywood Casino at Greektown generated slot machine and table game revenues of $31.8m and $22.4m, respectively, equating to increases of 3.9% and 5.2%.

How have the three operators fared since June 2021?

The total revenue for slot machines and table games does represent a 10.1% decrease month-over-month, however, while the three operators paid $8.2m in state gaming taxes and $12.1m in wagering taxes and development agreement payments. 

The MGCB reported a total retail sports betting handle of nearly $6.4m for June 2026, having fallen 11.4%. MotorCity Casino led operators with $337,035 of retail sports betting revenue, equating to an increase of 39.2%.

MGM Grand Detroit and Hollywood Casino at Greektown reported retail sports betting revenues of $295,756 and $203,272, respectively, equating to increases of 7.4% and 37.4%. For May, fantasy contest operators reported $569,264 in adjusted revenues and paid $47,818 in taxes.

Has Detroit kept pace on the retail betting side?

For online casino operations, the MGCB approved DraftKings for a multi-state launch of its online poker platform on July 13, previously determining the operator met all regulatory requirements to conduct such activity.

DraftKings’ online poker platform is currently running through the Bay Mills Indian Community in Michigan, which serves as the state’s operator partner for the iGaming vertical.
