Brazilian actress Luana Piovani has once again called for the arrest of controversial “betting influencer” Virginia Fonseca.
The comments came after a court in the Distrito Federal ordered Fonseca to remove betting advertisements that do not comply with transparency rules within 48 hours.
The ruling partially granted an appeal filed by the Ministério Público do Distrito Federal e Territórios (MPDFT), which alleges that Fonseca and betting operator Blaze used deceptive and abusive advertising practices by integrating sponsored gambling promotions into the influencer's personal content.
Judge Renato Rodovalho Scussel said advertising does not lose its commercial nature when presented within posts about travel, family or daily life and must therefore be clearly identified.
Actress Luana Piovani called for Fonseca's arrest in a social media post, writing: "Arrested!!! We want her arrested, and all the other (...) who turn this disgrace into a way of getting rich."
Piovani's renewed criticism followed media coverage of both the transparency ruling and a separate civil public action filed by the MPDFT against Fonseca and Blaze.
That action, brought after complaints from consumers, alleges abusive practices in the advertising of betting platforms and seeks collective moral damages of at least BR$120m. Prosecutors argue that Blaze and Fonseca blurred the line between sponsored betting promotions and personal content while failing to clearly identify advertising.
According to reporting cited by Piovani, the MPDFT's complaint centers on betting advertising activity during the 2026 World Cup.
Both the court order restricting Fonseca's advertising and the MPDFT's civil action remain under judicial review, with no final ruling reported on either matter.
Piovani has criticized Fonseca's involvement with betting platforms on multiple previous occasions. In April, she referenced Fonseca's children in a social media post condemning the influencer's gambling-related advertising, prompting Fonseca to say publicly that she would pursue legal action over the remarks.
Earlier this month, after the transparency ruling was first reported, Piovani used similar language calling for Fonseca's imprisonment.
Fonseca, who is by now a well-known figure in Global Gaming Insider's coverage, has been one of Brazil's most visible promoters of online betting platforms, and her advertising activity has drawn recurring scrutiny from Brazilian regulators and consumer advocates amid broader debate over the marketing practices of the country's expanding regulated betting sector.
