Sportradar will continue to perform investigations into potential sponsors and commercial partners for Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund has chosen to extend its sports integrity partnership with Sportradar, which will continue to perform “detailed background investigations” into potential sponsors and commercial partners for the German football club.

To identify prospective commercial partners who align with the club’s values, protect its reputation and support long-term sustainable growth, Borussia Dortmund utilises a “comprehensive vetting” process overseen by Sportradar.

Sportradar EVP of Integrity Services Andreas Krannich spoke on the extended collaboration, having said, “As the commercial landscape in sport continues to evolve, rights holders are looking beyond traditional sponsorship criteria and placing greater emphasis on long-term strategic fit.

“Borussia Dortmund recognizes the importance of building partnerships that reflect the club’s values, resonate with its supporters and create sustainable value for all parties involved. We are delighted to continue supporting the club as it develops a strong ecosystem of trusted commercial relationships that contribute positively to its long-term ambitions.”

The organisation’s due diligence reports for Borussia Dortmund will include reviews related to corporate structures, ownership and licensing arrangements, key personnel and business operations.

Regulatory compliance requirements and any legal or criminal proceedings which could present potential reputational risks to Borussia Dortmund will also be reviewed by Sportradar.

In February, FIFA also chose to extend its integrity partnership with Sportradar – originally beginning in 2019 – with the agreement now set to run through 2031.

Enhanced intelligence, investigation and risk assessment support are now included in the collaboration alongside the existing bet-monitoring capabilities that Sportradar currently provides.

Under the new terms, Sportradar will continue to monitor men’s and women’s FIFA international competitions, as well as confederation-run tournaments, international club competitions and senior domestic matches from the top two tiers across FIFA’s 211 member associations.
