Success Universe Group expects its consolidated loss to increase by between 50% and 70% for the six months ended 30 June 2026, following the cessation of gaming operations at Casino Ponte 16.
Based on the operator’s comparative loss of approximately HK$34m (US$4.33m), the forecast indicates a first-half loss of between HK$51m and HK$57.8m. The estimate is based on draft unaudited management accounts and remains subject to adjustment.
Success Universe attributed the expected deterioration primarily to its share of losses from associates connected with Ponte 16. Those associates generated a profit contribution of approximately HK$49m during the first half of 2025.
Casino Ponte 16 ceased operating on 29 November 2025 after SJM Resorts decided against acquiring the casino hotel complex from Pier 16 Entertainment Group.
Success Universe holds an interest in the property through the associate, while SJM Resorts owns 51% of Pier 16 Entertainment Group.
The closure formed part of a wider restructuring of Macau’s satellite casino sector. Revised gaming legislation required satellite properties to move away from arrangements that allowed third-party owners to share gaming revenue with concessionaires by the end of 2025.
Gaming tables and machines previously deployed at Ponte 16 were subsequently transferred to other properties operated by SJM Resorts. The hotel and other non-gaming facilities remained outside the casino concession structure.
Success Universe said a lower fair value loss on its overseas-listed equity securities provided some relief during the reporting period. This was insufficient to offset the change in the contribution from its Ponte 16 associates.
The warning does not provide first-half revenue or EBITDA figures. Success Universe is scheduled to publish its full unaudited interim results in late August, when these figures and the final net loss will become available.
Macau’s wider casino market continued to expand despite the removal of the former satellite model. Gross gaming revenue reached MOP113.75bn ($14.07bn) during the first half of 2026, although the sector’s growth does not directly restore the gaming income previously generated through Ponte 16.
Success Universe reported a HK$410.4m net loss for 2025 after recognizing a HK$340.7m impairment on its interests in associates and a HK$3.8m share of loss relating to Ponte 16. Revenue increased 16% to HK$59.7m during the year.
Ponte 16 is located in Macau’s Inner Harbour district and is being repositioned around non-gaming hospitality and leisure operations
