Mendoza's provincial gambling regulator has passed a new external audit by IRAM, Argentina's standards body, which recommended maintaining the agency's quality certification.
The Instituto Provincial de Juegos y Casinos (IPJYC) underwent the audit as part of its regular external review process.
IRAM assessed the institute against ISO 9001:2015 and the ALEA-IRAM, a standard developed specifically for gambling regulators.
IRAM auditor Oscar Duarte reviewed IPJYC's processes and documentation and recommended maintaining the organization's certification. He highlighted the institute's continued improvement as one of its main strengths.
The recommendation was made during the audit's closing meeting, attended by IPJYC Director Josefina Canale, General Manager Adrián Acevedo, Quality Manager Ricardo Rodríguez and members of the institute's quality team.
The certification covers the system IPJYC uses to organize and monitor its internal processes, focusing on efficiency, transparency, and traceability. Maintaining the certification means the regulator continues to meet the requirements established under the relevant quality and gambling-sector standards.
Earlier this month, the regulator closed the traditional table games hall at Casino de Mendoza's Godoy Cruz venue after a sustained decline in players, leaving slot machines as the only live gaming option there.
The move was attributed to financial pressure and changing betting habits, including the growth of online gambling.
In addition, the province is considering the future of the Hipódromo de Mendoza, which could move from its current location in Godoy Cruz as the municipality plans to redevelop the site. Several departments, including San Carlos and Junín, have expressed interest in hosting the racetrack.
IPJYC regulates gambling in Mendoza province, including casinos, gaming operations, licensing and responsible gambling measures.
