Sweden’s gambling market has grown 5.1% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, with companies holding a Swedish gambling licence generating SEK 7.4bn ($780m) in turnover, according to Spelinspektionen.

Commercial online gambling and betting accounted for SEK 4.96bn of the quarter's turnover, an increase of more than 7% compared with Q2 2025. The segment also increased from SEK 4.44bn in the first quarter of 2026, remaining the largest category in the regulated market.

State lottery and gaming-machine operations generated SEK 1.43bn during the quarter, broadly in line with the SEK 1.42bn recorded for Q2 2025. Gambling for public-benefit purposes generated SEK 863m, while bingo generated SEK 51m.

Land-based commercial gambling, mainly restaurant casino games, generated SEK 73m, up from SEK 64m a year earlier and representing growth of nearly 13%.

The SEK 7.4bn recorded for Q2 was also higher than the SEK 6.68bn generated during the first quarter of 2026. It was the second-highest quarterly turnover recorded over the past year, behind the SEK 7.81bn reported in Q4 2025.

At the end of the quarter, just under 138,000 people were registered as self-excluded through Spelpaus.se, Sweden's national self-exclusion service, a decrease of 0.7% from the previous quarter.

Spelinspektionen estimated that 84% of gambling on Sweden’s competitive market took place with licensed operators in 2025, down from 85% in 2024, with channelisation estimated at 96% for betting and 81% for online casino. It was also estimated that 94% of players used licensed operators during the year.
