Megaworld is accelerating the expansion of its hospitality business, unveiling plans to grow its hotel portfolio to nearly 12,000 rooms by 2032 while introducing a new management structure to support its long-term growth ambitions.
The Philippine property developer said future hotel openings will focus on high-growth tourism destinations, including Palawan and Ilocos Norte, alongside continued expansion across established business and leisure hubs nationwide. The pipeline will include both Megaworld's in-house hotel brands and internationally recognized hospitality brands.
As part of the strategy, the company has established Megaworld Global Hotels and Resorts (MGHR), which will consolidate its expanding portfolio under two operating divisions.
Megaworld Hotels & Resorts (MHR) will oversee the group's properties in Metro Manila, Boracay, Batangas and Cebu. Meanwhile, Megaworld Global Hospitality (MGH) will manage Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside, a hotel linked to the group's new casino resort being developed in the Philippine capital, Manila, as well as upcoming properties in Palawan and three hotels in Iloilo: Courtyard by Marriott, Richmonde Hotel Iloilo and Belmont Hotel Iloilo.
To lead the two divisions, Megaworld appointed Socrates Alvaro as Managing Director of MHR and Anna Vergara, a hospitality executive with more than three decades of experience at Marriott International, as Managing Director of MGH.
The restructuring comes as Megaworld's hospitality business recorded its strongest recurring income growth during the first half of 2026. Revenue increased 11% year over year to PHP3.1bn, driven in part by the opening of the 405-room Belmont Hotel Iloilo, now the largest hotel in Iloilo City by room inventory. The addition has expanded Megaworld's hotel capacity in Iloilo to nearly 1,000 rooms.
Megaworld's 405-room Belmont Hotel Iloilo opened earlier this year, helping lift the group's hospitality revenue
