San Manuel Investment Authority (SMIA) has completed its acquisition of the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, extending the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation's investment in non-gaming hospitality beyond its California properties.
The tribal investment authority acquired the Scottsdale, Arizona resort through affiliated entities. Financial terms and the seller were not disclosed in the announcement.
Fairmont Scottsdale Princess occupies 65 acres in the Sonoran Desert and has 750 guest rooms and suites, six pools, five food and beverage outlets and a 44,000-square-foot Well & Being Spa. The property is adjacent to TPC Scottsdale, which hosts the PGA Tour's WM Phoenix Open.
The acquisition adds another large destination resort to San Manuel's non-gaming holdings as the tribal government broadens its hospitality investments alongside its gaming operations.
San Manuel owns Yaamava' Resort & Casino at San Manuel in California, while a separate tribal governmental instrumentality owns and operates Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. SMIA's investment activity has increasingly added hotel and resort assets outside those casino operations.
In October 2025, SMIA acquired full ownership of the 400-room Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club in Dana Point, California, after initially taking an approximately 40% interest in the property in 2023.
Hilton continued to manage the resort following the transaction, while Troon remained operator of the associated Monarch Beach Golf Links.
The investment authority then completed its acquisition of the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside in May 2026. San Manuel described that transaction as another addition to its expanding non-gaming hospitality portfolio.
The Scottsdale purchase continues that diversification into destination hospitality. The Fairmont property also has a substantial meetings business, with 316,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor venue space alongside its resort accommodation and leisure facilities.
Global Gaming Insider previously covered San Manuel's plans to acquire the Mission Inn in Riverside. The transaction was subsequently completed in May, bringing the National Historic Landmark under SMIA ownership.
In May 2026, San Manuel completed its acquisition of the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside, California, adding the National Historic Landmark to its growing non-gaming hospitality portfolio.
Fairmont Scottsdale Princess has held AAA Five Diamond status since 1991 and received the AAA Timeless Diamond designation in 2025
