Fanatics Sportsbook has unveiled plans to enhance its injury protection offering for NFL and NBA bettors, with the protection set to apply to “every eligible player prop bet” for both professional sports leagues.
“At Fanatics, everything we build starts with making the fan experience better. We were the first in the industry to launch player injury protection with Fair Play, and now we’re the first to cover the whole game at no charge to the customer,” Fanatics Betting and Gaming President of Sportsbook Ted Moss said.
“If your player goes down in the second half, you get FanCash back – it’s your way into everything Fanatics offers, from tickets and merch to cards and your next bet.”
As confirmed by Moss, Fanatics Sportsbook will become the first-ever sports betting operator to provide free injury protection for NBA and NHL wagers throughout the entire contest.
Previously, FanDuel began offering full-game injury protection to bettors in April – BetProtect+ – but the additional coverage required users to pay a 3% surcharge on the total wager amount.
FanDuel stated it conducted surveys of how Bet Protect+ would perform with its consumers prior to launch, finding the majority would prefer to pay for full-time injury protection rather than receive free partial coverage.
Fanatics clarified the rules behind its full-game injury protection, having said, “If your player leaves injured and doesn’t return, that leg is voided. On a single, your stake comes back. On a parlay, the remaining legs keep playing. Before halftime, it happens on the spot.
“After halftime, it comes back as FanCash once the game is final. On parlays with legs still to play, FanCash is credited once every leg has settled.”
On September 8, Fanatics Sportsbook enhanced its Fair Play injury protection tool prior to the start of the 2026-2027 NFL season, offering bettors insurance on rushing props for both quarterbacks and running backs.
Under the enhanced capability, when a quarterback or running back goes over their respective rushing yards total, the bet is then protected from any negative plays – which result in a loss of yardage.
