Newport World Resorts Foundation (NWRF) has committed PHP678m to construct two new facilities for the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA).
The funding includes PHP379m for the four-story Lakan Leadership Hall at the PNPA in Silang, Cavite, alongside PHP299m for a new PNP Office Building at Camp Brig. Gen. Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City.
Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco attended the signing of the memorandum of agreement for the PNPA development and the groundbreaking ceremony for the PNP facility on October 21.
The Lakan Leadership Hall will include conference and function rooms, training and lecture spaces, a simulation room, viewing decks and temporary accommodations for visiting lecturers and professors.
Tengco said the project represents an investment in future police leadership, with the facilities intended to help officers prepare for the demands of public service.
Meanwhile, the PHP299m Camp Crame development will provide new workspaces and facilities supporting personnel development, training, wellness and operational readiness programs.
NWRFI Chairman and President Nilo Thaddeus Rodriguez said the foundation would continue supporting projects that provide resources and facilities for public service institutions.
The investments form part of wider socio-civic funding requirements imposed on foundations associated with PAGCOR-licensed gaming operators.
Under the arrangement, these foundations are required to allocate portions of their revenues to socio-civic initiatives, directing funds generated through the regulated gaming sector towards communities and public institutions.
PNP Deputy Chief for Administration Wilson Joseph Lopez said the projects would contribute to strengthening public service and improving the capabilities of police personnel.
