Chairman and CEO, Las Vegas Sands | Chairman, Sands China | Governor, Dallas Mavericks
Patrick Dumont rose to the top of Las Vegas Sands after more than a decade with the company, building a career shaped by finance, strategy and investment decisions.
His appointment as Chairman and CEO in March 2026 did not represent a sudden change in direction for Sands. Dumont had already spent years helping shape the portfolio he now leads, progressing from an early strategy role to CFO, and then President and COO before taking the helm.
His challenge is now to take that strategy into its next phase, with Sands concentrated on Macau and Singapore, with major investments underway in both markets.
The gaming career path
Dumont joined Sands in 2010 as VP of Corporate Strategy after working in investment banking. He moved into senior finance roles before becoming CFO in 2016 and joining the operator's Board in 2017. He became President and COO in 2021, succeeding Robert Goldstein as Chairman and CEO in March 2026.
His progression through strategy, finance and operations gives Dumont a varied profile. Much of his career has been spent making decisions about where Sands should invest – and where it should not.
During his time as CFO, Sands sold Sands Bethlehem for $1.3bn in 2019. The company later completed its exit from Las Vegas with the $6.25bn sale of The Venetian Resort and related assets in 2022, leaving Macau and Singapore at the center of its portfolio.
The modern-day Las Vegas Sands
Las Vegas Sands was founded by the late billionaire Sheldon Adelson. As a staunch anti-online advocate, Adelson resisted any digital launches for the Sands brand. After his passing, Sands attempted to move online but has since exited the market without success.
Las Vegas Sands and its subsidiary Sands China operate the group's Macau properties, including The Venetian Macao, The Londoner Macao and The Parisian Macao, while Marina Bay Sands remains the group's main property in Singapore.
Despite its name, Las Vegas Sands currently runs no properties in the US. It retains, however, a $29.45bn market capitalization as of August 2026.
The operator is continuing to expand its Singapore presence. Indeed, Marina Bay Sands is undergoing an $8bn expansion, with completion scheduled for 2030. In the second quarter of 2026, the property generated $689m in adjusted property EBITDA and maintained 95.6% occupancy.
During Dumont's tenure in senior leadership roles at Las Vegas Sands, the company's properties have continued to receive recognition. Marina Bay Sands won Integrated Resort of the Year at the Asia-Pacific Global Gaming Awards in 2023 and 2024, before finishing as runner-up in 2025 and 2026.
In July 2026, Sands announced it will undergo a full renovation at The Venetian Macao.
Dumont in quotes
Patrick Dumont has emphasized the importance of building on the legacy of Adelson and Robert Goldstein while continuing to invest in Sands' properties, people and communities. Following his appointment as Chairman and CEO, he reflected on the responsibility of leading the company founded by Adelson:
“It is a true honor for me to serve as Chairman and CEO of this iconic company founded by one of the industry's greatest visionaries.
“Under the leadership of Sheldon Adelson and Rob Goldstein, Sands has reached tremendous heights, and I welcome the opportunity to build on that legacy in the years ahead.”
He added: “Our core leadership team has been together for many years, and we are highly focused on maximizing ongoing investments in our properties, people and local communities.”
Career beyond Sands
Outside Sands, Dumont is Governor of the Dallas Mavericks and represents the franchise on the NBA Board of Governors. He is a Member of the Board of the US-China Business Council.
Fun fact: Dumont is also on the Board of LA28, the organizing committee for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games
