At the end of December and 2025, Steve Birch will be stepping away from Sky Betting & Gaming after 18 years.

Birch started out at the company working as a Marketing Analyst back in 2007 and progressed quickly over the subsequent 13 years, holding nine different job titles before stepping up to become CEO of the company in 2020.

Around this time Flutter Entertainment merged with The Stars Group (TSG), effectively bringing Sky Betting and Gaming and Birch under the Flutter umbrella.

From 2022, he continued to work with the now Flutter-owned company but took the role of CCO, which was expanded when Tombola and Flutter UKI's Trading department were added to his remit.

Reflecting on his long spell with the company, Birch thanked Richard Flint, a previous CEO and a number of other figures.

He also wished luck to the people who will be leading Flutter forward without his aid, namely Group CEO Peter Jackson, and Flutter International CEO, Dan Taylor.

Birch has not announced what his immediate next steps will be, though after spending his entire career to date with one company, he shared on a LinkedIn post that the "time was right for a new challenge."

On Sky Betting and Gaming, Birch's post also read: "The culture, calibre of people and focus on customers whilst having fun made it an amazing place."

In November it was announced that Sky Bet was relocating to Malta as a means of running the company more efficiently.

The UK Government's decision to raise taxes on the gambling industry in the Autumn Budget has forced many operators to try and find ways to reduce costs.

Flutter told Sky Bet of the move in June 2025 and announced roughly 250 redundancies at the same time.
