Carrot Pay CEO Jinwoo Lee has joined South Korea's ongoing relay campaign to raise awareness of illegal youth gambling, becoming the latest corporate leader to support the initiative led by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
The campaign seeks to highlight the risks of illegal cyber gambling among young people as authorities respond to growing concerns over the spread of online gambling targeting minors.
Lee participated after being nominated by Korea Fintech Industry Association Chairman Kim Jonghyun. He has since nominated Payhere CEO Park Jungi and Travel Wallet CEO Kim Hyeongu to continue the campaign.
In a statement, Lee said Carrot Pay, which operates a hyperlocal financial services platform, would continue contributing to the development of a healthy financial culture for future generations.
The initiative encourages executives from businesses, financial institutions and public organizations to publicly share the message that illegal online gambling targeting young people is "a crime you can never win" before passing the campaign to additional participants.
The latest participation follows a series of similar initiatives across South Korea.
Earlier this week, educational publisher Cheonjae Textbook partnered with Dongdaemun Police Station to launch a youth gambling and drug prevention campaign. Under the agreement, prevention messages will be incorporated into study guides for elementary, middle and high school students, as well as the company's official website.
The relay campaign has also drawn support from the financial sector, with iM Securities CEO Park Tae-dong recently taking part before nominating another industry executive to continue the effort.
Together, the initiatives reflect South Korea's broader strategy of combining public education with law enforcement efforts to address youth cyber gambling. Authorities have increasingly partnered with private companies and educational organizations to expand the reach of prevention messaging and raise awareness among young people and the wider community.
