Entain has published its annual ranking of the year's biggest betting events, with the Grand National securing the top position for another year.

However, the comprehensive list demonstrates the increasingly global nature of sports betting, spanning multiple continents and disciplines. The operator's analysis of worldwide sportsbook data reveals distinct patterns in customer engagement.

Horse racing maintains its traditional strength, with the Grand National leading ahead of the Cheltenham Gold Cup (14th) and Coral Scottish Grand National (21st). Cheltenham Festival's influence extends further, with three Friday races appearing in the top 50.

American football continues its international expansion, with Super Bowl 59 claiming second place. The AFC and NFC Championship games ranked fourth and sixth respectively, whilst two early-season NFL fixtures broke into the top 20, reflecting the sport's growing global reach.

Football finals dominated the middle rankings, including the Champions League Final (5th), Club World Cup Final (7th),and Nations League Final (9th). Additionally, South America's Copa Libertadores Final placed 19th, while Manchester United versus Liverpool emerged as the world's most popular league fixture, appearing twice in the top 50.

Golf made a notable appearance with the US Masters climbing to third place, surpassing the Champions League Final and standing as the only major championship to feature in the top 50.

Commenting on the results, Greg Ferris, Managing Director of Sports at Entain, stated: "From Cheltenham to the Super Bowl, and from Champions League to the Libertadores Final, this list shows how our customers' interests span continents and sports.

"The Grand National and the Super Bowl are cultural phenomena that transcend sports and are annual traditions for recreational customers. Beyond these leading top two events, the diversity in the top 50 of different sports reflects our global reach and the varied passions of millions of fans worldwide."
