Prior to its scheduled 2027 opening, Hard Rock International has provided a construction update for its guitar-shaped property in Las Vegas, which is expected to feature close to 3,600 hotel rooms, 175,000 sq ft of gaming space and live entertainment venues.
Hard Rock Las Vegas President Joe Lupo confirmed 28 of the planned 42 stories have been officially completed by the operator's construction teams, with the property currently being built on the former site of The Mirage casino resort.
Lupo also stated the lower 100 feet of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas will contain the first five floors of the tower, while the remaining 560 feet will hold the property's 675 hotel rooms and suites.
Owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, Hard Rock originally purchased The Mirage from MGM Resorts International in 2022 for a cost of $1.075bn. The operator would then close operations for The Mirage on July 17, 2024, with an expected opening date for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas planned for Q4 2027.
In November 2025, Hard Rock and the Tejon Indian Tribe held a grand opening ceremony for the new Hard Rock Casino Tejon property, featuring a celebratory guitar smash, Tribal blessing and $100,000 charitable donation prior to doors being opened to the public.
The $600m project created over 1,000 permanent jobs and more than 5,000 construction-related positions for locals, representing the largest private hospitality investment in Kern County.
Hard Rock Casino Tejon features 150,000 sq ft of casino space, including more than 2,000 slot machines, over 50 table games and VIP high-limit rooms.
Phase two of Hard Rock Casino Tejon will introduce a 400-room hotel tower and 2,800-seat Hard Rock Live entertainment venue for the purpose of hosting concerts, performances and sporting events.
