The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has selected Stats Perform to be its betting data and streaming rights distributor ahead of this summer’s World Cup in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
Stats Perform will have exclusive distribution rights for the World Cup, though the scope of the agreement stretches beyond the tournament’s end.
A multi-year agreement also exclusively grants the same rights to Stats Perform for the Women’s World Cup in Brazil the following year, the Futsal World Cup in 2028, the Women’s Futsal World Cup in 2029, various Under-20 competitions and the annual FIFA Intercontinental Cup through to 2029.
Romy Gai, Chief Business Officer at FIFA, has said: “We are delighted to partner with Stats Perform, a global leader in sports data. This innovative partnership will create great opportunities to deliver official products for the benefit of the game and its fans.”
The Stats Perform-owned Opta Sports will be gathering data, insights, live scores and match trackers for sportsbooks, with the RunningBall team exclusively distributing official FIFA betting data to licensed betting operators.
Carl Mergele is the CEO of Stats Perform and himself commented on the announcement, saying: “Our clients will be delighted we’re able to add FIFA competitions to our Opta and RunningBall official betting data portfolio, and our innovative, AI-enriched Bet LiveStreams service."
The partnership is the first of its kind struck by football’s chief governing body and comes in advance of what is set to be the largest World Cup in the tournament’s history.
The competition is made up of 48 teams with 104 matches taking place over a record 39 days.
This creates lots of opportunities for betting operators and streaming services, with Stats Perform’s Bet LiveStreams service acting as the official distributor of match video streams to selected sportsbooks.
Mergele will be hoping Stats Perform can capitalize on the immense demand for and scale of the football competition, adding: “We share FIFA’s vision to help the magic of the beautiful game be felt more deeply, by more fans, worldwide.”
The 2026 men's World Cup is being hosted across three countries for the first time, with games being played in Canada, the United States and Mexico
