The Instituto de Ayuda Financiera a la Acción Social (Iafas), the gaming regulator and lottery operator for Entre Ríos Province, in Argentina, has donated 16 automated external defibrillators to the provincial Health Ministry as part of a joint initiative to strengthen emergency medical response capabilities.
Iafas President Carlos Moyano formally delivered the equipment to Health Minister Daniel Blanzaco during a ceremony attended by Director General of Hospital Material Resources Santiago Romero Ayala and senior officials from both agencies.
The defibrillators, which remain within their operational lifespan, were replaced as part of Iafas’ internal equipment renewal program. Health authorities confirmed the devices will be refurbished with new patches and batteries before being deployed across healthcare facilities throughout the province.
Carlos Moyano, President of Iafas, said: “For us, it is very satisfying to make this contribution to the Health Ministry. When this possibility arose, we immediately got in touch to make this equipment available, which can be used by both healthcare personnel and citizens with minimal training, and we hope it will help save lives.”
Daniel Blanzaco, Health Minister, stated that the donation supports the province’s broader strategy to enhance response times to cardiac emergencies in both healthcare facilities and public spaces. He noted that access to properly maintained defibrillators is critical for effective emergency care.
According to provincial authorities, a portion of the donated equipment will be allocated to healthcare centers in interior regions of the province, reinforcing infrastructure where continuous equipment renewal is required.
The initiative reflects coordination between provincial agencies aimed at optimizing public resources and strengthening the healthcare network across Entre Ríos.
Iafas operates lottery services and oversees gaming regulation in Entre Ríos Province, with gaming revenues allocated to social programs and broader provincial development initiatives.
In 2025 Iafas increased its social contributions by 267% year on year, transferring ARS 6.55bn ($7.7m) to provincial social programs
