The Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) has started enforcement actions to recover previously imposed fines on The Path of Natural Energy Foundation. The Foundation has so far failed to pay total fines of €60,000 ($70,989).
Fines were imposed for failing to clarify the financial outcome of a licensed lottery. Organisations that run a lottery are required to donate 40% of the proceeds to charity after the event concludes.
However, the Foundation did not provide information about the lottery's financial results, despite repeated requests from the KSA.
The fines imposed were not paid, prompting KSA to initiate enforcement proceedings with the bailiff.
Consequently, the Foundation's file has been forwarded to the Public Prosecution Service for possible further investigation.
The KSA has published a notice of payment refusal on its official website.
The case underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in the operation of licensed lotteries.
It also demonstrates that failure to comply with reporting and payment obligations can lead to escalating legal and reputational consequences for organisations involved.
In separate news, the KSA has taken a firm stance against Polymarket, threatening to fine it up to €840,000 ($992,000) if it does not stop its operations in the country.
According to the KSA, Polymarket has been offering ‘games of chance’ on the Dutch market without the appropriate licence.
