DraftKings has appointed Gregory Wendt to its Board of Directors after receiving recommendation from the operator's Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, which Wendt is also set to join.
"Greg brings deep expertise in investment management and a strong understanding of the gaming sector," DraftKings Co-Founder and CEO Jason Robins said.
"His insights will be invaluable as we continue to scale our business, enhance the customer experience and strengthen DraftKings' position as a leader in sports entertainment and technology."
Wendt most recently served as Partner of Capital Group Companies, an investment management firm and parent company of the American Funds portfolio of mutual funds.
Throughout his 37-year tenure, Wendt also held the roles of Investment Analyst and Portfolio Manager, leading research responsibilities across the global casino sector.
"I'm honored to join the DraftKings Board at such an exciting time for the company," Wendt said.
"DraftKings continues to redefine fan engagement and the gaming landscape through innovation that drives sustainable growth, and I look forward to supporting its future success."
The "exciting time" Wendt may be referring to could stem from DraftKings' recent acquisition of Railbird Technologies and its wholly owned subsidiary, Railbird Exchange, to officially begin offering prediction markets to users.
Robins originally hinted to Global Gaming Insider of the operator's future plans to enter the prediction markets space in August, as DraftKings is set to unveil its new DraftKings Predictions mobile application within the "coming months."
In related personnel news, DraftKings hired Christian Bogstrand as its new EVP and GM of iGaming on October 20, having served 12 years with bet365 prior to joining the US-based operator.
Bogstrand eventually worked his way to holding the CEO and Head of Gaming positions for bet365, and will now look to expand DraftKings' iGaming business in the months ahead.
DraftKings entered into a multi-year advertising and sponsorship agreement with NBCUniversal on September 29, covering an extensive range of sports programming across television, streaming and digital platforms
