Betsson France has obtained an online poker licence, allowing French players to participate in the activity and join online tables in other countries.
The decision was made by the Director General, Pascal Chèvremont, of the National Gaming Authority (ANJ) and published in the Official Journal of the French Republic and on the ANJ website.
Betsson's online poker authorisation was granted by Decision No. 2026-171, which issued the company a five-year licence with the possibility of renewal.
However, before going live, the operator must demonstrate to the ANJ that its archiving system is located within the country. Subsequently, Betsson has six months to submit a document certifying its compliance with all legal and technical requirements to the ANJ.
Moreover, Decision No. 2026-172 authorises Betsson to provide players with the option of joining online poker tables located in Spain, Italy and Portugal. To do so, the company must inform the ANJ of any developments concerning the liquidity sharing operation.
During the third quarter of 2026, the operator reported a 10.4% increase in year-on-year revenue, reaching €326.8m ($366.8m).
The FIFA World Cup, paired with the opening of major European football leagues, sustained customer activity, as its customer base grew by 40% to 1.9 million users.
Earlier this month, the company also announced the creation of the Betsson Foundation. The initiative aims to centralise the company's charitable activities across the world into one organisation.
By focusing its activities through the Foundation, the organisation is able to achieve a more coordinated impact across various markets Betsson serves.
In Spain, the group donated its Champions League front-of-shirt sponsorship to promote a regional blood and plasma drive
