The Philadelphia 76ers National Basketball Association (NBA) franchise has become the league’s first organization to partner with a prediction market operator after unveiling a new multi-year collaboration with Kalshi.
Named as the 76ers’ Official Prediction Market Partner, Kalshi’s branding will be introduced within Xfinity Mobile Arena and across the franchise’s mobile application.
The two parties are also set to create new content, experiences and integrations for 76ers fans, while Kalshi will serve as the presenting sponsor of Philadelphia’s Sixers Posters digital art series.
Kalshi – along with Polymarket – unveiled a new partnership with the NBA on October 26, naming both as the league’s preferred platforms and granting the operators access to official league data and intellectual property rights.
“With Kalshi’s new league-wide relationship with the NBA, we saw an opportunity to build a first-of-its-kind team partnership focused on delivering new content, creativity and engagement for 76ers fans,” 76ers CRO of Partnerships Owen Morin said.
“As we embark on a new season with palpable buzz and anticipation surrounding our team, we’re excited to work with Kalshi to create new, fun experiences for our fans.”
The collaboration between Kalshi and the Philadelphia 76ers is particularly notable due to the franchise’s most recent signing this summer. In July, the 76ers signed former Los Angeles Laker LeBron James, who later unveiled a new partnership with Polymarket to promote the operator’s New York headquarters.
It will certainly be interesting to see James promote Polymarket’s services while simultaneously playing for a franchise partnered with who could be described as the operator’s greatest competition.
Nonetheless, Kalshi Head of Sports Partnerships Adam Barrick also spoke on the operator’s latest collaboration, having said, “As we build our relationship with the NBA, we couldn’t be more excited to have the 76ers as our first announced team partner.
“It’s an exciting time for the 76ers franchise, with one of the most passionate fan bases in sports behind it. We look forward to working together in creating a new, innovative and safe way for Philadelphia 76ers fans to engage with the team and players they love.”
After witnessing Kalshi and Polymarket’s respective expansions across organizations such as Major League Baseball, it shouldn’t be long before a fellow NBA franchise follows in Philadelphia’s footsteps.
Utah and Attorney General Derek Brown began seeking a preliminary injunction against Kalshi on October 30 that would prohibit contracts tied to politics, elections, culture, sports and mentions
