MGM Resorts International CEO and President Bill Hornbuckle has welcomed the decision to bring the Super Bowl back to Las Vegas in 2029, after NFL owners voted to award Super Bowl LXIII to Allegiant Stadium.
In a LinkedIn post published after the vote, Hornbuckle said: “We’re thrilled to welcome the Super Bowl back to Las Vegas in 2029.”
He added: “Las Vegas has proven it can deliver events of this magnitude. MGM Resorts International is well-positioned to support and help shape that experience across our portfolio.”
Hornbuckle also referred to MGM’s role around the city’s previous Super Bowl in 2024.
He stated: “We were grateful to be part of Super Bowl LVIII and look forward to partnering with the League again in 2029.”
The award gives Las Vegas its second Super Bowl in five years. The city first hosted the NFL title game in February 2024, when the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime at Allegiant Stadium.
For MGM, the 2029 event is likely to be significant across its Strip portfolio, where the operator runs multiple hotel and casino properties that can capture visitor demand tied to major sports events.
Hornbuckle’s statement did not set out specific activation plans, though it indicated MGM expects to work with the NFL again when the event returns.
Las Vegas has continued to build its calendar of large-scale sports events in recent years, with the Super Bowl now returning after the NFL’s first title game in the market was widely viewed as a test of the city’s ability to host one of the league’s biggest commercial events.
The new award confirms that the league is willing to bring the event back to a market with deep ties to gaming, hospitality and sports betting.
Earlier this month, MGM launched an all-inclusive style package at Luxor and Excalibur, combining accommodation, dining, entertainment and parking into a single bundled offer, expanding its efforts to drive visitation across its Las Vegas properties.
