DGOJ has updated its SVJ-WS system, improving how operators verify and monitor players without major structural changes
Operators must integrate identity checks, self-exclusion registry verification and near real-time updates on player status changes

The DGOJ has published an updated version of its Player Verification Web Service (SVJ-WS), introducing technical refinements to how online gambling operators verify and monitor users, without making major structural changes.

The system continues to require operators to verify players’ identities in real time, confirm legal age and ensure users are not listed in the General Registry of Gambling Prohibitions before account activation.

However, it now strengthens ongoing supervision, extending monitoring throughout the entire player lifecycle, not just at registration.

The SVJ-WS framework is built around several core functions that operators must integrate into their systems. These include “Verify Identity,”  which validates national identity card or foreign resident's card documents without creating an immediate contractual relationship.

“Verify RGIAJ” checks a player’s status in the national self-exclusion register. “Verify Player” combines both checks into a single onboarding step, while still keeping identity and exclusion status as separate verifications.

A key enhancement is continuous monitoring. Through “Check RGIAJ Changes,” operators receive near real-time updates when a player is added to or removed from the exclusion list.

The update also strengthens periodic review requirements. Operators must re-verify both identity and exclusion status for their entire user base within set timeframes, ensuring at least three months between review cycles and preventing overlap with other ongoing checks.

Further improvements include better management of digital certificates, more precise verification processes and clearer technical wording to avoid ambiguity.

DGOJ recently presented a Safe Gambling Program for 2026 - 2030. Measures target youth protection, research on emerging technologies like AI and strengthened collaboration with treatment providers.
