The Arizona Department of Gaming has launched a new on-demand responsible gambling initiative to offer free self-paced training to residents and those currently working within the industry.

“Offering this responsible gaming training is about increasing knowledge, confidence and skills that make a tremendous difference in improving the conversations and interactions we may encounter day-to-day,” Government and Community Affairs Assistant Director Jessica Roza said.

“I’m excited to share information and resources about responsible gaming that promote a safer, more sustainable gaming environment – and I look forward to briefing community members on how to make this training work for them.”

The training is organized across three self-paced phases, covering the fundamentals of the risks associated with gambling, how problem gambling differs from safe play and connecting with others to address the issue.

Those taking part in the initiative will also be able to go through optional continued learning quizzes at the conclusion of each phase.

Roza continued: “For many years, responsible gaming training has served as a cornerstone of education for gaming industry employees, strengthening safety and promoting responsible entertainment across the state.

“Today, we’re excited to expand that impact by offering an on-demand training designed for anyone interested in deepening their understanding of responsible gaming – including those who may not currently participate in gambling, or work in the industry. This broader approach reflects our commitment to the Arizonans we serve.”

In late March, the regulator also unveiled its new Take Back the Game campaign to promote the state’s self-exclusion program, which allows residents to exclude themselves from commercial gaming activity, event wagering and daily fantasy sports applications.

As part of the self-exclusion program, residents may request to be banned from all forms of gambling for a one-, five- or 10-year term.

Within Take Back the Game, a live self-exclusion request takes place at the Arizona Department of Gaming’s Phoenix office, set to air on digital, television and radio platforms.
