A resolution introduced to the Chamber of Deputies of Entre Ríos is demanding that the provincial Executive Branch clarify the extent of planned casino closures under the Instituto de Ayuda Financiera a la Acción Social (IAFAS)
The request came after workers at the La Paz gaming room received verbal notice of a shutdown that could directly affect around 20 families, with media reports indicating the rooms in Federación and Chajarí may also be part of the restructuring.
The filing, authored by lawmaker Sergio Castrillón, asks the government to provide a detailed account of the workers affected, the localities involved and any alternative arrangements under consideration. It also urges IAFAS to revisit the decision and evaluate reconversion models already proposed by staff that could preserve jobs while improving the room's financial performance.
Castrillón said: "The verbal communications made by IAFAS representatives about the closure of the gaming room in the city of La Paz constitute a concrete fact that highlights the seriousness of the situation, leaving workers without certainty about their employment continuity."
The resolution frames the closures as a threat not only to employment but to the tourism ecosystem of smaller Entre Ríos cities, where casino venues function as a complement to local visitor activity. The lawmaker warned that without concrete state intervention, the situation could expand to other parts of the province.
No official response from the provincial Executive had been issued at the time of publication, and IAFAS has not made any public statement on the matter.
