Argentina’s Instituto Provincial de Loterías y Casinos de Misiones (IPLyC) has introduced a new requirement mandating the gradual implementation of AI-based tools.
The measure is aimed at strengthening the detection and prevention of problem gambling in online environments.
Under the new provisions, licensed operators must incorporate certified technological systems capable of analyzing player behavior and identifying potential risk patterns.
According to IPLyC, the system is designed to detect indicators such as irregular betting patterns, unusual account activity, compulsive deposit behavior, sharp increases in wagering, repeated loss-chasing and extended or high-frequency gaming sessions.
In addition to monitoring, the framework provides intervention mechanisms. When risk indicators are detected, operators are expected to trigger preventive actions, including on-screen alerts, suggestions to pause activity, temporary account restrictions or referrals to responsible gambling support channels.
Alongside the regulatory update, IPLyC signed a cooperation agreement with Fundación L.E.A., (a name that nods to leer, Spanish for “to read,” and stands for “A place for education in Argentina) to develop prevention initiatives focused on education and awareness.
The partnership includes joint programs across different educational levels, as well as training, research and the promotion of responsible digital behavior.
The measure was formalized through an annex to the regulator’s existing online gaming framework, and was signed by Héctor Rojas Decut, Isabel Zilveti and Rosana Barroso.
