Argentina's Asociación de Loterías Estatales Argentinas (Alea) held its 75th Ordinary Assembly in Mendoza last week, drawing representatives from gaming regulatory bodies across all 24 provinces of the country.

The event, organized jointly with the Instituto Provincial de Juegos y Casinos de Mendoza, centered on the expansion of illegal online gambling and its impact on the regulated gaming industry.

The agenda covered issues including the decline in activity at official lottery agencies, revenue trends, money laundering prevention and the rise of problem gambling. Panels also addressed global regulatory challenges, emerging technologies such as tokenization and predictive markets, and the convergence between gaming and gambling in digital environments.

At the close of the assembly, Alea confirmed its new governing board. Ida López, President of the Instituto Provincial de Juegos y Casinos de Mendoza, will remain at the head of the organization. Gonzalo Atanasof, President of the Instituto Provincial de Lotería y Casinos de Buenos Aires, will serve as VP.

The board is completed by Daniel Di Lena of the Caja de Asistencia Social de Santa Fe as 1st VP, Ramiro Ibarra of the Instituto de Asistencia Social de Chubut as 2nd VP, Jesús Acevedo of Lotería de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires as Secretary, Javier Bee Sellares of the Instituto de Lotería y Casinos de Corrientes as Under-Secretary and Carlos Moyano of the Instituto de Ayuda Financiera a la Acción Social de Entre Ríos as Treasurer.

Bee Sellares, Interventor of Lotería Correntina, said: "It is an honor to represent the province in Alea. In a complex context, marked by new challenges such as the growth of online gaming, the advance of illegal gambling and the debate over the sustainability of the system, it is essential to keep promoting legal and responsible gaming and to work consistently on strengthening official agencies."

The Entre Ríos delegation from Iafas, whose President Carlos Moyano took on the Treasurer role, also had a visible presence: the organization's Social Responsibility Coordinator, Carolina Molina, moderated a panel on sustainability, social responsibility and the protection of vulnerable groups in digital environments.
