Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) will attempt to set a Guinness World Records title for the largest game of human foosball as part of its Toronto World Cup 2026 activity.

The event will take place on 23 May at Humber Polytechnic Lakeshore Campus West in Etobicoke, with opening ceremonies scheduled for 10am. Members of the public will be able to attend during Doors Open Toronto.

OLG said 250 participants will play in a custom-built 150ft by 68ft arena. A Guinness World Records adjudicator will attend to confirm whether the attempt has been successful.

The activation follows OLG’s appointment as the fourth Official Toronto World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter, joining Ontario Power Generation, Humber Polytechnic and Toronto FC.

The City of Toronto said OLG’s role includes grassroots investment and fan experiences at the FIFA Fan Festival Toronto.

Toronto will host six World Cup matches between 11 June and 19 July, including Canada’s first men’s World Cup match on home soil on 12 June. The city will also stage a round of 32 match on 2 July.

The FIFA Fan Festival Toronto will take place at Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway, with free general admission and paid premium options.

The city has also confirmed live match broadcasts, entertainment and more than 30 food vendors.

The foosball attempt also ties into OLG’s partnerships with the City of Toronto’s Soccer for All Legacy Program and Ontario Soccer.

The programme is raising money for mini pitches in priority neighbourhoods, while OLG said the wider support will include training for grassroots coaches and match officials.

OLG President and CEO, Duncan Hannay, said: “We know that soccer can have such a positive impact on our communities, so we’re incredibly grateful to our players for helping build a brighter future for the beautiful game in our province.”

The record attempt gives OLG a public-facing way to get the ball rolling on its World Cup role while linking the tournament to community sport.

It also puts a spin on traditional fan engagement, bringing a tabletop classic to life at scale.

In January 2026, Brightstar deployed its Sales Wizard automation tool to OLG, integrating the cloud-based platform with OLG’s central lottery system to provide real-time retail data and analytics for sales representatives.
