Rio Hotel & Casino Las Vegas has appointed Todd H. Simons as SVP of Casino Operations, marking a further addition to its evolving leadership team during a period of ongoing transformation at the property.

Simons brings with him more than four decades of experience across the US gaming industry.

His appointment follows recent ownership and executive changes at Rio, including the acquisition of a majority stake by Kennedy Lewis Investment Management and the installation of a new executive leadership structure.

Throughout his career, Simons has held senior positions at several high-profile Las Vegas properties, including The Cosmopolitan, Palms Casino Resort and Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

His track record includes leading operational turnarounds, improving revenue performance and implementing data-driven strategies across gaming and marketing functions.

At The Cosmopolitan, Simons played a key role in improving casino performance during a transitional period, contributing to significant revenue growth and the eventual sale of the property.

Similar turnaround-focused roles at other venues have seen him oversee large-scale teams and introduce operational efficiencies aimed at stabilising underperforming assets.

His most recent experience includes running his own design business and consulting work through Hidden Fruit, a firm specialising in CRM, business intelligence and marketing analytics for gaming operators.

The appointment comes as Rio continues a multi-phase redevelopment strategy following its transition away from Caesars Entertainment ownership.

Recent initiatives have included renovations to the casino floor, labour agreements with unionised staff and broader efforts to reposition the property within the competitive Las Vegas market.

Good to know

Simons began his gaming career in 1981 at Circus Circus and has since held senior leadership roles across multiple major Las Vegas casino properties
