Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Dutch gambling regulator, has reprimanded Godwits Limited after reports of poor customer service and technical glitches with the 888 online platform.
Godwits Limited is part of the ComeOn Group, which secured an agreement in July to operate 888 in the Netherlands after the Evoke-owned brand had spent four years out of the market.
The relaunch has seemingly been beset by player reports of a customer service channel that was impossible or extremely difficult to reach.
The other issue noted by the KSA was that welcome bonuses were not being automatically awarded to players as they should have been after signing up.
Godwits Limited has responded that an unexpectedly high number of requests following the launch was the reason for the non-communicative customer service and long wait times.
According to the KSA, this is a duty of care failing and any operator licensed by the authority must always have a Dutch-language customer service channel available to answer player questions.
On the welcome bonus issue, the operator has accepted that the failing was a technical issue and indicated that it has now been resolved.
The 888 brand was active in the country before 2021's remote gambling act came into force.
Many operators joined it in ceasing its trade in the country at that point, with Entain, Betsson and Kindred among those initially following suit.
The deal to return with the ComeOn Group was celebrated at the time by Evoke's Director of Corporate Development Davide Marchisio as a: "high-impact, low-capital partnership aligned to Evoke's strategy."
In October, Evoke reported Q3 2025 revenue of £435m ($580m), a 5% year-on-year increase
